Answers related to: Technical Questions

Q: I have a technical question! Where can I get answers?
A: You are always welcome to send an email to: support@gibbleworld.com

Q: I get a message saying "Memory Full" when installing the program. What am I doing wrong?
A: If your memory is full, clear some space by erasing an application. Once there is sufficient space, try downloading Gibble iM again.

Q: Should I install Gibble iM in the phone memory or on my memory card?
A: Some mobile phones let you choose to install applications on either the phone memory or an external memory card. It doesn’t matter which one you choose.

Q: When I start Gibble iM I get a question if I want to connect to Internet. Can I avoid this message?
A: YES. Gibble iM is digitally signed(if possible) which means that its origin is verified by a third part. Briefly this gives you the opportunity to choose if this question should come to your attention or not. On some phones there is no support for our certificate and we are then not able to deliver a signed version of our application. In that case you have to download the unsigned version of Gibble iM.
Signed version of Gibble iM
Nokia Series 40 phones: Find Gibble iM on your phone->Options->Applications Access->Communication->Network Access->Always allowed
Nokia Series 60 phones: Menu->Tools->App mgr->Gibble iM->Options->Suite Settings->Network Access->Options->Always allowed.
Sony Ericsson phones: Locate Gibble iM on your phone and press More->Internet access->Never ask Unsigned version of Gibble iM Unfortunately there is no way for us to turn off this message if the application is not the digitally signed.

Q: I get a permission error message like "You are not authorized to access file system, check Java Application permission settings". Is something wrong with my phone?
A: As a default security, some mobile phones do not allow Java clients (like Gibble iM) to access the internet at all. You can allow access; it is usually in the JAVA- Games-, or Application settings menu. It is best to check your phone manual on how to do this. On Nokia phones go into the application settings, sometimes called "Application Manager" and set network access to "ask first time only???".

Q: I can't connect via WLAN! What am I doing wrong?
A: Most likely there is a problem with your WLAN configuration. Your WLAN gateway may block some TCP/IP ports which should be opened for normal Instant Messaging operation. Please contact your WLAN administrator to find out whether it allows you to work with such application as MSN.

Q: When I try to download Gibble iM I receive a popup that says something about a certificate. What am I doing wrong?
A: Gibble iM is digitally signed(if possible) which means that its origin is verified by a third part. On some phones there is no support for our certificate and we are then not able to deliver a signed version of our application. In that case you have to download the unsigned version of Gibble iM.

A: We have made sure that the data-usage is as low as possible. There are a few mobile operators left that charge as much as €5.- ($7.-) per MB. Luckily they are not many. Here is an example if you pay € 5 per MB: with the typical data usage this could cost you: 20 minutes of intense chatting (about 50 lines): € 0.30 - € 0.40 60 minutes online with little activity: € 0.15 - €0.25

Q: How much is the data usage in Gibble iM?
A: It really depends on how actively you are chatting. Here's an indication on what a typical session with Gibble iM could cost you: 20 minutes of intense chatting (about 50 messages): 0.06-0.08 MB 60 minutes online with little activity: 0.03-0.05 MB This indication is for when your mobile operator supports 'socket connections'.
